The rooms were small and outdated which was fine and I could look past this as I just needed a place to sleep for the weekend as I was working nearby. When we arrived I was told that the booking was for one person however there was two of us and normally there would be an additional charge for two people but on this occasion they wouldn’t charge. So far even though the rooms were old and outdated because of the customer service I could look past it. The next day however we were told that we would have to pay the extra charge which didn’t make any sense as we were told the night before we wouldn’t. There was no need for the extra charge the room was already set up for two people, all that was different was two people sleeping in a bed instead of one. Additionally we found old soap from the hotel that had clearly been used by a previous guest still in the shower. I would have given it 4 stars because when we first arrived even though the hotel was run down at least the customer service was good but it went downhill after we were told to pay extra and I found the old soap in the bathroom.

Very conveniently located for walking into the town. Our room was a little small but clean. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and a massive full English breakfast if desired (which we did!). Did not use the bar or partake in an evening meal. Would visit again.

first of all: my respect to the 4 staff members I've seen there througout my 3 nights stay. They did everything from cleaning to cooking to serving the bar and reception. That being said... You can't run such a place decent with only 4 people, and that's to be seen in poor maintenance of the rooms. Everything in the bathroom is loose or molded, bed linnen was not really clean, room temperatures were unbearly hot, you hear every other rooms noises . Breakfast was ok, but nothing more. Continental breakfast was weird, and the english breakfast (where so many people are positive about) was decent, but nothing more. Also: 8:30 is way too early as last time for breakfast. For me it fealt like back to the future ending up in 1985. Nothing wrong with being outdated, but than you have to make sure your maintenance is properly done.

Stayed here for the Olympics in 2012 and doesn't seem to have changed in those 10 years. Looking tired and in need of upgrading. Our room was extremely small on the 2nd floor with a shower that gave at best a poor water power. Stairs up had threadbare carpet with some parts worn through to the step. Breakfast was very good wiith plenty of options. Towels were grey once white, frayed with no pile.

So for the price it was okay, because it included breakfast and it was only one night We had a wedding the day we stayed, and only had 20 mins to get ready before the can came, because they wouldn't let us check in earlier. The lady in reception was nice enough, but found it discriminatory that she asked for a card for the room, when she hadn't asked the couple before us. Only one mirror in the bathroom, which is difficult when there were 4 of us trying to get ready in a short space of time. The photos of the place are quite deceiving, as it is taken from an angle where you think there is a lake, when in fact it's just a pond! Would not come back personally, but good price if you just want a bed.
