FAQ

What is your teacher-to-student ratio?

Our teacher-to-student ratio varies depending on the age range of the students. For our preschool program, we maintain a ratio of 1 teacher for every 8 children. For our special education program, we maintain a ratio of 1 teacher for every 4 children. We believe in providing individualized attention to each child in our care, and our ratios reflect that commitment.

What qualifications do your teachers have?

All of our teachers hold relevant qualifications and experience in early childhood education or special education. Our preschool teachers hold a minimum of a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification, and our special education teachers hold a minimum of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. In addition, we provide ongoing professional development opportunities for all teachers to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest teaching practices and techniques.

How do you individualize instruction for students with varying needs?

We believe that every child is unique, and we strive to provide individualized instruction for each student in our care. For students with varying needs, we work closely with families and other professionals to develop an Individual Education Plan (IEP) that outlines specific goals and strategies for their learning. Our teachers then implement the IEP, providing differentiated instruction and support to help each student reach their full potential.

What type of curriculum do you use?

We use a play-based curriculum that is grounded in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework for our preschool program. This approach allows children to learn through exploration, discovery, and hands-on experiences. For our special education program, we use a personalized curriculum that is tailored to the individual needs of each student. Our curriculum is designed to support the development of social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Are there any extracurricular activities offered?

Yes, we offer a range of extracurricular activities to enrich the learning experiences of our students. Some of the activities we offer include music and movement classes, forest school sessions, cooking and baking classes, and sports and physical education. We believe that extracurricular activities are an important part of a well-rounded education, and we strive to provide a variety of options for our students to explore their interests and talents.

What a beautiful place for a party! Thank you so much Børn of the Forest for a lovely memory to treasure - a 3rd birthday bear hunt in the sunny forest (no stumble tripping but oozy sticky mud just increased the fun). We enjoyed the activities and opportunities for exploring and being creative in the lovely surroundings - petal pies were especially popular at down at the bear cafe and kitchen. So lovely to sit around the fire and toast marshmallows together. We could not recommend this venue more for celebrating and having fun with little ones.

Me and my little ones LOVE Born of the Forest. It's got absolutely everything you need for a morning of fun in the great outdoors. It's not just your average woodland, it's got lots of simple and challenging activities which stimulate your little ones imagination and problem solving abilities. It's also in such a gorgeous place and Vicky, Chris and their team at BOTF are all so warm and welcoming. I took my youngest when she was just 13 months old and she really enjoyed having the freedom to roam in the outdoors without me stressing about her toddling off. They're geared up for all the weather Yorkshire has to throw at them and there's teas and coffees too. Their drop in pre-school classes are an absolute bargain and I would highly recommend to anyone with young children.

We had a wonderful family session during half term. As soon as we arrived my 4 year old was off exploring all the activities in an engaging and safe environment. She loved the ‘potion’ making in the mud kitchen and building with the wooden blocks. The fire making and marshmallow cooking at the end was very exciting. Great place to go with children, my daughter didn’t want to leave!

I took 20 Rainbows to Born of the Forest and we all had the best time! It was so much fun from fire lighting, campfire cooking, mud kitchen cooking, rope swinging, den building and hammock chilling. We will definitely be back and I will look to send my children for school holiday clubs. Cannot recommend enough, Vikki and Chris were brilliant. Thank you
