Tiny round towered church. One of only 6 in Essex. Charming inside with small rectangular chancel.

Loverly little round towered church. Made of flint with some stone. Inside is very plain, but this adds to it’s charm.

Interesting unspoilt church, one of six round tower churches in Essex. It is built of flints and pebbles with some stone. The brick entrance porch is a later replacement. It is one of the latest round tower churches, consecrated about 1380, by the Bishop of Pisa! It is rather simple inside; a whitewashed interior with no stained glass, and few monuments. Bits have been rebuilt sympathetically, following bomb damage during WW2. A beautiful simple church in nearly open countryside.

Grade 1 listed constructed of flint and some local stone, St.Peter and St. Paul Little (Bardfield) Saling is a classic 14th century parish church. The round tower is one of a group of 6 remaining in Essex and an unusually late example. Of all the round tower churches in the United Kingdom this is the only example of the decorated period and therefore apparently the last of its kind to be built in mediaeval times. Church is normally locked.
