Omg I really don't know what to say! Visited on 31/12/21. Me and my friend took my autistic son to the air rifle range for a couple of hours. We had visited before and had enjoyed it so we were pleased to be returning. We had found the range pleasant and relaxing. However, when we had finished my son wanted to look at the onsite shop. We weren't wearing Covid masks as both are exempt. We noted most people in the shop weren't wearing them either, including the staff and so weren't expecting an issue. One staff member approached us and in an aggressive maner told us to put our masks on, did not ask or show any courtesy, just barked the order. Government guidance is clear that you don't need to display proof of exemption and people cannot ask for proof that you are exempt. I pointed out that none of the staff were wearing masks as they freely moved around the shop talking to customers and explained we were exempt. The staff member said that staff don't have to wear one and went over to the owner who, I later discovered was the staff members father and said "they are refusing to wear masks and asked where mine was". With that the owner charged towards me, my son and friend and in a very aggressive and confrontational maner started to wave his hands about telling us to get out the shop. We tried explaining that we are exempt but he just kept shouting at us to get out, much to ours and the other customers shock. Not wanting to cause upset we left the shop. We spent sometime outside reassuring my son who was left shaken as he just couldn't understand why the owner had been so hostile. I have to question if such a volatile and clearly aggressive man should be in charge if selling firearms? So in short the rifle range is good but enter the shop at your peril.
