DON'T.... Just don't put your trust into these estate agants! All was perfect in the beginning, was shown around several properties and fell in love with our "forever home" immediately. Put our offer in and was accepted to our utter delight! Got our mortgage sorted and solicitors appointed right away. Everything was running smoothly and quickly. Paid the solicitors hundreds of pounds to carry out surveys etc and draft contracts were drawn up! 4 weeks later and just 5 days before Christmas we got a phone call from church hawes to say he'd been contacted by another person who wanted the house and willing to offer more money so we were put into a bidding war. Obviously we lost and so our dream house was snatched away just like that... our Christmas ruined and 2 devastated children who had started decorating their new rooms in their heads!! While I understand it's not illegal to be "gazumped" I do find it morally wrong. After having spoken to other estate agents who have also said they'd never do that to someone there is still obviously an estate agent who thinks it is acceptable. Because of what he did to us, out of principle we will not even look at a house up with them now! Absolutely appalling agents!!
