Underwhelming and overpriced for what you get. There are so many great small plates restaurants in London and this one fell way short of expectations. The mackerel crudo was daylight robbery at £17 and literally tasted of nothing. The octopus pizza was tasty but the dough was undercooked and squidgy in the middle. The lamb sausage was, again, vastly overpriced at £21 for the portion size. The negronis and wine were delicious though. I'd heard good things about Elliots so was excited to try it, but it seems the chefs have got lazy.

Overall 8.5/10🌟 Cheese puffs 9/10🌟 Mackerel crudo 7/10🌟 Portion size far too small for the price, needed a bit more seasoning Ox heart 9/10🌟 My favourite dish of the night other than the bread! Roast chicken 7.5/10🌟 Portion size too small and the jersey potatoes weren’t seasoned enough but the gravy was great Sourdough ciabatta 10/10 🌟 Possibly the best bread I’ve ever tried at a restaurant Anchovy pizza 7/10🌟 Fresh delicious ingredients but lacked oomph Wood fired cheesecake with rhubarb 8.5/10🌟 Delicious!!

Each dish was a talking point. We had the mackerel, ox heart and pasta/ravioli type thingy as small plates and then shared the halibut with the crispy cabbage and roast potatoes. The salsas on the small plates were so good we had to order the sourdough to mop up. Even the bread was remarkable. Our waiter took the time to talk us through before we ordered and made some good suggestions. He got it just right. The chocolate/grappa sorbet for desert was more like a mousse which elevated it beyond the usual "I wish it was ice cream" effect that sorbet typically has on me and, as a lover of grappa, I was in raptures. This is not your average kitchen and I gather the chef earnt his stripes in Noma in Copenhagen. The attention to detail and creativity really showed through. Lastly they had some end of bin wines byvthe glass including an orange Rieslijg which were aso remarkable. I know this all sounds a bit OTT but everything really was that good. All that and great people watching into the bargain. Can't recommend highly enough.
