The atmosphere and food (which I will get to in a bit) at Hoppers were both pretty good. However, the really slow, inattentive, and unfriendly service sort of ruined things. There was a huge time gap between the arrival of the appetisers and mains, and whenever something did arrive, it was always served without any serving utensils. I had to practically jump up and down to get any server's attention every time I wanted something. The staff was also quite surly, which made me feel unwelcome and I honestly just felt like leaving. Food-wise, things were good, though the flavours were often repetitive. The lamb biryani stood out as being really good. I throughly enjoyed the paratha-like fried roti. The chicken curry was passable. A note-worthy appetiser was the chili paneer (not sure what it is called on the menu exactly). We also had a chili cheese dosa which was exceptional. I'm not exactly sure I would come back, however. The food wasn't enough of a stand-alone feature for me to warrant a return. A restaurant is made by it's atmosphere, food AND service, and they were sorely lacking in the last department. Not sure why it was that way and not keen on a repeat performance to find out.
