THIS FINE DINING RESTAURANT WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME FOR MY HUSBANDS BIRTHDAY. EVEN THOUGH HE WASN'T FEELING THE GREATEST, HE STILL ENJOYED THE OUT OF THIS WORLD MEAL!! IT IS RIGHT UP THERE WITH ANY TOP RESTAURANT. THE FOOD WAS COOKED TO PERFECTION AND THE SERVICE WAS TOP DRAWER. THE ENGLISH SPARKLING WINES ARE FRAGRANT AND VERY REASONABLY PRICED. CLEAN. AS FOR THE BUTTERSCOTCH SOUFFLÉ - ONE TASTE OF THAT AND YOU WILL FORGET EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO FORGET AND REMEMBER EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO REMEMBER!

Only recommend if you have more money than appetite!! Wonderful service and setting but the portions were absolutely shocking. The picture in this review was the short rib of beef MAIN course. It lived up to more than its ''short'' name - it tasted great but was so tiny. The £5 sides were suggested as big enough for two to share but they were hardly sufficient for one person. Based on the £42 for two courses it is impossible to recommend.

Well it was inevitable that moving to a pub would change the experience. Had lunch last week and we were informed beforehand that as of the end of the month lunch would no longer be available only the pub lunchtime menu. As we usually travel a considerable way for lunch wanted to have a final lunch before they changed. What a disappointment. Only three things on the menu for each course, there were always four before starters and deserts were fine but main courses were disappointing. No fish choice, only a squid ink seafood risotto, not much evidence of any seafood, I chose the brassica option as do not eat meat usually choose the fish option.. A bowl of a couple of sprigs of sprouting broccoli, three small cauliflower florets and some cabbage, all chargrilled with a very salty cream sauce. Beef was served with chips. Not really what we would have usually expected. Sorry Dylan and team, have had lunch many times and have always raved about previous lunches so sad out last visit was so disappointing. It is too far for us to travel in the evening for dinner as it is over an hours journey home. So unfortunately won’t be back, a gap in our lives, will have to find somewhere closer to home.

Unfortunately it was better as the old Tyler's kiln. With 4 choices of starter and main, every one of them needs to be 10/10. Most of us got beef but wasn't asked how we wanted it to be cooked, and received 4 slithers of beef. It seems like the restaurant is aiming for quality food and service like Reads, but is way, way off the mark. Service was OK, food was OK, choice was poor. At £65 a head it felt more of an insult when leaving rather than a good experience. If they want a silver service and quality food experience, they need to try much harder. Bring back the old Tyler's kiln
