It's never a good time visiting a crematorium but when you do its nice to be in pleasent surroundings. Having visited for many years time has stood still at the crematorium. The place needs a good update. Colours are drab, the Chapel uninviting. 4 weeks ago I was there. There was a dread fish floating on the surface of the pond! The hole place is colourless and has a cold feeling about it.

What have they done to the flower cloister ? I've been visiting this crem , when I'm in the area, for the last 30 plus years ,as it's where my grandparents ashes are . At one time ,all the flowers ,from the recent services were displayed around the car park ,but they are now in a very small area next to the room where the book of Remembrance is . Maybe there aren't as many flowers now days which I understand . The area where the services take place , where the fish pond is , is very dull and looks overgrown . Surely something can be done ,to make this area brighter and more welcoming ? I noticed last xmas ,when visiting ,that the flowers cloister area had been shut for refurbishment But since its been reopened it's awful ! It's so clinical and more like a mausoleum ! There is only a small area to put cut flowers only , but the rest has been turned into a ,very morbid looking ,grey ,I presume Marble ? boxes where ashes can be kept and inscriptions can be put on the front , there are also some simlar style benches ! From the very few that have actually been purchased, I don't think I am the only person who finds the whole area distasteful ! Disputes notices, saying please don't put plants etc on the actual individual areas ,around the gardens where loved ones ashes are , people arent taking notice , I can't blame them as the once peaceful area where plants etc could be left is now dreadful ! I noticed there were new areas and new plaques being installed, where they have a very small area on top of the new curb stones to put a few tiny flowers , this idea is much better ! And the plaques will not discolour which is much better than the olde style ones ! I wonder if they will change the whole area into this new style ? I know my dad , still pays a lot of money to have my grandparents older style plaque kept in the grounds ! I've never , personally , liked the xmas wreaths idea , but this year ,I found the set out areas where these could be placed , within a marked out star to be. , A much nicer option . I've always found this crematorium the best I've ever been to , and more like a pretty , Peacefull park , I have hactually requested my ashes be interned here ,even though I don't live in the area , But the new flower cloister has really upset me HOwever I've never noticed the children's area before ,within the grounds ,and that was lovely and had a very calm peaceful feeling .
