I have trained at Laurence Sandum's Black Belt martial arts for two years now, as well as training there for a year when I was younger. I have always found the instructors to be very helpful, and friendly. I think that there is a good atmosphere in the various martial arts classes, regardless of your skill level. (I currently train BJJ, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Judo and MMA).

I would highly recommend this academy to anyone, any age or fitness level. I've been training here since May 2011, firstly in Jun Fan and Kali and more recently Gracie Jiu Jitsu, and in that time my confidence has improved and I've lost over 15kg in weight - unexpected bonus! The instructors are enthusiastic and very skilled, and the students are friendly and fun to train with. What is brilliant is that as well as the classes, they regularly host seminars in different arts bringing in world class trainers from all over the world, who you just wouldn't get the opportunity to learn from otherwise. Highly recommended! :)

Have read the review from Marnie Sutton, who I suspect may have a vested interest in the club as this does not read like an impartial review from a parent. I read with interest about the month by month contract, as I can categorically state this option was not offered to me. If this is something which has been brought in recently, then I would urge parents to use this option and not touch the Educational Funding Company's contract with a bargepole! The terms of the contract are not fully explained - in fact I believed I was signing up for a year's classes with the Judo Club itself, not a third party finance company. I believed I would be able to cancel at any time if my financial circumstances changed. I still believe this is bad practice for recreational lessons for children - comparison to a Sky+ contract is not justified in my opinion. In all the time of my young relative attending, I have never seen a badge given out. It is actually the gradings which are expensive - £32 per grade - and progression seems to depend upon taking these gradings. I would like to reiterate that Graham was always brilliant - I have no complaints with him whatsoever.
