Before Martin helped us with our 1 year old dachshund (Marley), my partner and I were experiencing extreme reactivity on walks, to the point where my partner would burst into tears after every single walk. We had spent 1000s of pounds on multiple trainers and dog psychologists and did not see an improvement. Martin stripped it back to basics by working on teaching Marley how to walk to heel, how to correct any unwanted behaviour and we changed up his equipment as a slip lead was not giving the desired result. We now have an amazing relationship with our dog, he is fulfilled and happy on walks and so are we. Thank you!

Absolutely 100% recommend Yorkshire K9 Training! I called December 2022 in tears with my dachshund Kevin who was extremely reactive to other dogs and people. He would lunge, continuously bark, snarl and snort at anyone walking nearby and would not acknowledge us at all when trying to calm him down. I was four months pregnant at this time and taking him out was so stressful I would be in tears nearly every-time. K9 were great from the start giving me tips and advice with the first phone call. We have just finished his last session and I cannot thank Ruth and Martin enough! me and my partner now know how to properly manage his needs and walks are now enjoyable for all of us. The training really opened our eyes to what he really needed and made our bond stronger. His happy little trot on walks melts my heart everyday and he can now meet other people and dogs without any anxiety or fear, not just from Kevin but from myself and my partner too. Thank you again for everything you have done for our family! Anyone reading this who is struggling with their pooch, please give K9 a call!

We started with Yorkshire K9 when our pup was 10 weeks old. He is a very high energy cross between Labrador and GSD, both parents from working line. Ruth has been amazing at helping us learn how to handle and train him and having a puppy would have been a lot more stressful if it hadn’t been for what we’ve learned with Ruth. Any issues or things we struggled with have been fixed and we’ve been given the tools to continue his training. The whole team are great at replying to messages and offering help outside of the sessions. I recommend Yorkshire K9 100% to anyone thinking about the training. It is more than worth the cost and they are fantastic at what they do.

Martin & Ruth have been amazing with our rescue working line GSD. They're the 3rd dog trainers we've been to and have solved problems others couldn't and taught us how to continue the training on our own. Our girl is an absolute joy to walk and play with now and we regularly get comments on how we'll behaved she is from people in the park!

We got our puppy Lola at 8 weeks and started puppy training with Martin and Ruth at 9 weeks. They were really supportive and set out a clear plan from the offset. Lola is perfectly behaved and didn’t even need her final session! Couldn’t recommend k9 enough. Thanks guys!

We booked three sessions with Martin in October and November last year, after being given his details by a kind passerby who’d just witnessed our dog, Theo, have a reactive outburst at another dog. That had been our reality for most of Theo’s time with us after a couple of bad experiences a few years after we rescued him from Greece. Walking at odd hours of the day to avoid other dogs, or just not at all to avoid stressing him - and us - out. He was a happy dog, but definitely not living life to the fullest. We’re now four months post training and Theo enjoys happy, stress-free walks every day (unless it’s raining, he is from Greece after all!). During our fortnightly sessions, Martin helped us build the confidence to navigate Theo’s behaviour when out walking around other dogs. With the right tools and the right mindset from us, he’s now able to pass other dogs at a distance that previously would have resulted in him barking, lunging and redirecting onto me. He absolutely still doesn’t like other dogs, but he now looks at them calmly and then looks at me instead of reacting. This means we’re able to work on building a positive association between other dogs and cheese-strings (other treats available!) which is so great for his ongoing progress. The training with Martin has truly changed his life (and ours) for the better and our only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner. If you’re dealing with the same and think your dog is unfixable - give Martin a call and see how he or Ruth can help. We had tried other trainers, including residential, but the progress we made with Yorkshire K9 has stuck and we’re so grateful. Thank you so much. Katie & Theo

Ruth and Martin have been amazing from day one with our puppy, Duke. They are patience, committed and always on call for any questions. This is my first dog so completely new to it all and they have set us up brilliantly. I can’t recommend them enough. Their training style is great and tailor it to you and your dog. We can’t thank you enough! X

My two CKCS have just returned from a weeks residential training with a focus on walking to heel and recall. I received daily progress updates and a comprehensive handover at the end of the week. They clearly enjoyed their training with Martin and came home happy and confident with their new skills. Most importantly, the results are fantastic and I am now enjoying walking them on a lead! I highly recommend the residential training for rapid, visible results.

Our Airedale Terrier was getting a bit big for her boots, both out on walks and in the home, so whilst we were staying in temporary accommodation we took the opportunity to see what Martin and Ruth could do with her on a 1-2-1 residential. We were absolutely blown away with what came back. Like all training, it's now down to us to really bed it in, but the difference was remarkable. Her heel is now great all the time where before it was OK (when she felt like it), she will now stay in place even when there are distractions in the house, she settles a lot easier, and you can just tell how much more engaged she is with us. The best bit of all is now being able to let her off lead in public. Before we took her to Yorkshire K9 she had NEVER been off lead with us. Now I feel completely confident letting her off, even when there are distractions, knowing that she will come back to me when called. If you are in any doubt at all about using Martin and Ruth with your dog, don't worry and just do it! Once we are settled in our new home, we will be back up to Yorkshire for a holiday and will be asking them to do some work with our reactive dog.
