After reading some bad reviews I nearly never booked here but I'm glad I did. The main building and grounds are beautiful. The outdoor pool is a good size. 2 tennis courts which were fun. A small pitch and putt golf area. Then an indoor pool, which isn't cold, lightly warm which was nice, a steam room and sauna which can sit around 4 or 5 in each. A squash court too. We didn't use and of the massage spa services but the options are there. The rooms were fairly nice although I dislike it when you book King bed and end up with 2 beds pushed together which I find extremly uncomfortable. Also the shower head needed replacing or repair which sprays water everywhere causing woodwork damage to the bathroom. But it was good value at £90 booked via super travel. We did try to have a drink at the tudor bar but after waiting for service for 15mins I ended up driving to a local pub Instead. Also after paying £17 for a cola, coffee and water we didn't bother eating in the hotel restaurant either. All in all I think the hotel is well worth a visit if you get a good price on the room

Booked a spa package, the afternoon tea was lovely but its not a spa. We had booked to use the spa from 10am until 12pm with massages for four of us at 12pm and afternoon tea at 2pm. About an hour before we arrive, whilst driving there, the staff emailed to say one of us would have to have our massage at 1:40pm instead. It was not a very apologetic email and no one tried to call us, it was just luck that we saw the email. When we arrived we explained that we had afternoon tea at 2pm so that wouldn't work. it was a birthday treat for two of the four of us so one of the non-birthday girls kindly said she will forego the massage. We went into the pool which was very dated and we were in the middle of what felt like a family swim at a local swimming pool. We have kids and it was nothing against the families enjoying the pool at all, but when you pay for an expensive spa day as a relaxing treat you don't expect to be in the middle of a kids party. There is also no hot tub, which isn't the end of the world, but you can't call a shabby little pool and one steam room a spa. The treatments themselves were good but it was quite disorganised. We were told to be at the spa reception at ten to twelve but at a couple of minutes to twelve there were still no staff to be seen, so we had to go and find someone and tell them we were waiting. However the afternoon tea was absolutely lovely, the scones were fresh and still warm when they arrived and and the man who served us in the restaurant couldn't have been nicer. We would recommend booking afternoon tea if that is all you are after but don't book the spa. Its a shame because we have stayed at the hotel before for a wedding and the hotel itself is very nice, which is why we expected the spa to be good too.
