We've come to Mama Chen almost every weekend since they've opened to enjoy the wonderful dumplings and noodles. Our favorites are the little emperor pork dumplings and both the spicy and umami noodles, though other items like the prawn star dumplings and wonton noodle soup are lovely. We hope to be back many more times in the future.

We ordered a few dishes on Saturday as our first time in this restaurant. Everything seemed okay until I came home. 2 days I’m having food poisoning from the food we had there. The noodles were extremely artificial and now for two days I can’t leave the house as a result of the experience.

I have followed Mama Chen’s since they started doing food pop-ups in the North London area and have always been stunned by their kindness, friendliness and total dedication to a delicious dining experience. It seems a crime to pick just a couple of items to mention here though I have fond memories of the succulent Little Emperor Pork Dumpling and the lip-smacking chunky noodle dish they do. My trip to Mama Chens’ Gantry location was defined by fast, friendly service and tasty food made with love. Cannot recommend enough! 💖🥟💛

The team knows how to manage their social media and customer service. I saw this restaurant pop up so wanted to try it and treat my parents in law to a nice lunch. It’s a real shame the food experience has been the complete opposite. Every dish was bland, the dumpling dough was far too thick and the noodles not great either and the won tons had little filling. For reference: my parents in law are from Hong Kong. I have lived in Beijing for 6 months and have Asian / Chinese food 2-3 times per week so would think I know a good dumpling when I taste it. Reading the other reviews I wonder if these are actually genuine (which I doubt) or if there was a change in chef recently. When a friend came to London this weekend and was desperate to go because they had read about it on social media too, they were quoting „this must be ten times more authentic than Chinatown“ - is when I decided to leave a review. If you come for ambience and service this is still a nice place and you won’t be disappointed if you’re flexible on the palate. If you’re craving dim sum, hop on the train and go to the next best restaurant you can find in Chinatown. You may sit on plastic chairs sharing your table with other people but you’ll get great value for money and authentic tasty dim sum.
