FAQ

Are there any age or license requirements for renting a truck?

There are age and license requirements for renting a truck. Renters must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver's license. Some locations may require renters to be at least 25 years old. A commercial driver's license (CDL) is not required for most rental trucks, but renters may need to provide additional documentation, such as proof of insurance or a credit card in their name.

What is the process for picking up and returning the truck?

The process for picking up and returning a truck varies by location, but typically involves presenting a valid driver's license and credit card, signing a rental agreement, and inspecting the vehicle for damage. Renters are responsible for returning the truck in the same condition as when it was rented. Some locations offer after-hours drop-off or pick-up services for added convenience.

What is your policy on insurance coverage for rented vehicles?

We offer several insurance options for rented vehicles, including collision damage waiver (CDW), personal accident insurance (PAI), and supplemental liability protection (SLP). Renters can choose to decline insurance coverage, but will be responsible for any damage or liability incurred during the rental period. It is recommended that renters consult with their personal insurance provider to determine if their policy covers rental vehicles.

Do you offer any additional services or amenities, such as GPS navigation or roadside assistance?

Do NOT RENT here. Smaller locations like this are always a gamble but RUN quickly from this business. Its dangerous and dodgy. This was my worst rental experience ever. I rent cars a few times per month and this was the most terrible experience. The car type I requested was not available and I was told there was only one rental available and I could "take it or leave it." The car had an overwhelming lemon scent to it to cover up the stale smell of the car. So we had to drive with the windows down for 2 days. The damange walk around prior to the rental was uncomfortable. The man I worked with noted one small scratch on the driver side but said nothing about the tires and alloys. They were in terrible shape. I pointed out how much damage there was and again was told it was the only car available so if I didn't take it I would have to go to the airport one hour away. I double and triple checked that the Damage of the car was noted in the account and was reassured that the videos and pictures would be recorded. the rental was prepaid but I then authorized a damage hold of 500 pounds. I was aware of the central london congestion fee of 15 pounds and had to correct the employees fee of 30 pounds because it was a one way rental. He then said the authorization would be 550 pounds and he couldn't use the card the car was prepaid with. I have not had that happen in the past but gave a new card for the 550 pound authorization. Then I returned the car to the heathrow airport location and the man there said that the tires were damaged and I would be charged 1500 pounds for them. At this point I told him that the car was given to me damaged in london from the waterloo station damaged and I was reassured that the videos and pictures were uploaded and recorded. The heathrow airport person said there was nothing in the account and they would not have been able to rent me a car with so much damage. Imagine my surprise to know that the waterloo location not only refused my prepaid suv rental but knowingly put my family in danger by renting me an unsafe car. I told him the damage was preexisting and to please compare the previous photos to the current state of the car. He went into the office and returned back telling me that there was no recorded damage to the car and it would be charged to me. At this point I started calling my insurance company and requesting that the heathrow employee contact the waterloo employee. After several minutes I was told that the heathrow employee would be bumping the car rental back to the waterloo employee and that I would NOT be charged for damages. That they were in the wrong for renting me that car. He then tried to charge me for the congestion fee, that I already paid for. Then I return home to see a 1500 pound charge from your company! Absolutely absured. This needs to be resolved. Then they take off the 1500 and add a new charge for 2100. All for a 300 unsafe rental. This location needs to be shut down.

I booked a car for 4 days on Expedia with National. We put an estimated pick up time of 10:30. In all my previous rentals with any company I have never had an issue with being late for this estimated pick up time. We arrived around 2:20 after spending 30 minutes just trying to find the location. The service lady told us that she gave our car away as we were more than 2 hours past the 10:30 pick up time. I couldn’t find anything on Expedia saying that I had to be within a 2 hour window. The lady also said that there was no contact information with Expedia. When I check into a hotel or any reservation I have with Expedia I get an immediate email saying how did you enjoy your check in. They have my phone number on file as well as my email. Every hotel I check into already has this prepopulated on a form. National simply gave away our car and then told us there were no cars available in all of London and that we should take a train outside of London to find a car. We called Eurocar and found a car for 5:30 pick up but it meant another Uber ride to the location and a late start to our drive to York. I will never book with National/Alamo and their affiliates ever again because of this experience. We travel extensively and they have lost a customer. Beware when you think you will get a car because chances are you will either wait for it or you won’t get one at all.

    - This is not the correct location of the National Rent Car Office. It is co-located with the Enterprise car rental just south of the Waterloo station under the tracks.
