I highly enjoyed my trip down the tunnel with the Dudley Canal Trust. You can walk or travel by boat through the tunnel. It is amazing just how much work was put into building the tunnel many years ago. From the very start, light can be seen at both ends of the tunnel. It appears to be just a short distance. It is amazing just how long it truly is.

If u like long dark wet tunnels this is defiantly worth an adventure! It’s like following the light down the never ending tunnel… recommend at least once, need coat, wellies and torch!

The Netherton Tunnel will take around 40 mins to walk through and probably not much less via bike because you will have to cycle at a low speed. The southern portal will take around 20 minutes to see; however, your visit can be extended by exploring Cobb’s Engine House and the nature reserves. The northern portal and Tividale Aqueduct will also take around 20 minutes to see, you may wish to continue walking along the Birmingham canals. Overall, a journey through the tunnel, visiting each portal and returning to the start can be achieved in about 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Very interesting walk

It was a fantastic walk but if you're afraid of the dark (I mean pitch black) best to bring ha high powered torch. The complete tunnel walk took around an hour to do and an hour back. Bring wellies or strong waterproof shoes though because there are deep puddles through the whole walk. It's also quite cold in there so best to bring a warm set of old clothes. Be wary of other people and bikers coming through bit it's not that busy, majority of the tunnel I had for myself so it had extra spookiness to it aswell.
