Incredibly thorough and comprehensive. Jim is an excellent (and patient) teacher and prepared us all very well for the exam, as well as making sure we understood things that weren't necessarily going to be tested. Would recommend to anyone looking to obtain their Day Skipper Theory certificate.

I have really enjoyed the classes with Nomand Sailing and Jim. He helped us get through the theory AND when I was not able to join the classes he managed to quickly setup Zoom and give me the class online so i could follow all the instructions together with the group. Highly recommended!

Paid for and attended first day of Day Skipper theory course but couldn't face rest of the course. If your a normal working class person don't bother, everyone was middle class, graduate or very well off and lets you know that your not one of them. I had comments like "oh your one of them", was being encouraged to join the club course was being held at until they found out i lived in a council house then nothing, when I said that I couldn't afford a boat at the moment 2 people never said another word to me. That's just a couple of examples so totally felt out of place. Total waste of £405 and personally I do not believe I will ever try to get in to anything to do with boating again as I know where I'm not wanted.

Excellent teaching and support from Jim Barden, who takes time to explain topics in different ways with patience and good humour until everyone understands. Resources, including the Nomad website, weekly emails with revision aids and downloads of teaching slides are concise and useful. For the section on lifejackets he brought in several for us to open up and explore, and we got to set one off. Highly recommended.
