From my initial consultation in Leicester with Pretti to having my surgery in the Nottingham clinic, I can’t say enough good things about my experience with optical express. The whole thing was smooth and well organised and the procedure itself was quick and painless. I’d been thinking about having laser eye surgery for years and now I’ve done it, I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner! Carl in the Leicester team was also fantastic and really helped make me feel I was in safe hands.

Had my assessment at the Leicester branch two weeks before I had my surgery on the 21st February 2023 at Nottingham, after all the tests were completed I met my surgeon who advised me to have the monofoçal eyhance lens instead of the multifocal lens which i agreed to, three weeks on and two visits to the Leicester branch and I'm struggling to see outside of the house with my longsight I'm unable to drive and go to work, I have my next appointment in four weeks time for an assessment, at the moment it feels like it's been one of the worse decisions that I have made, I have been informed that I have been given too much near vision and not enough far which can be corrected with laser surgery. Every day I wake up with the hope that it gets better but there is no change with my vision, it feels like I've been left in limbo and with no money coming in I'm having to use my savings until this can be sorted. Update. So after posting this review I have been contacted by Optical express and asked if I would like to visit my local store and choose a pair of glasses until my eyes can heal properly, an appointment was arranged for the 20th March, I finally picked up my prescription glasses on the 31st March and to be honest I can now drive and go back to work on Monday, I'm dreading explaining my reasons for wearing glasses after spending over £7000 on lens replacement and I'm still wearing glasses, so how are my eyes now, still feel uncomfortable at times, vision is very different when in or out of home, the information bar on the TV is at times unreadable, my next appointment is in just over two weeks time an update will follow.

From start to finish I was put at ease by the team at Optical Express Leicester whilst consulting on laser eye surgery. Pretti talked me through the procedure at length and answered any queries I had. I had my surgery at the Nottingham clinic with Mr Mughal, he and his team were very patient with me, accommodating to my dizzy spells and very attentive, making me feel as relaxed as I could. I honestly couldn't fault them at all. With the lasik surgery you are in the chair no more than what feels like 10minutes, it's pain free but a little discomfort. My only niggle is that following the surgery they go through aftercare and if I am being honest you are a bit bewildered and just want to go and lie in a dark room, I personally think this would be better pre surgery as it's all very straight forward information. Alongside this I had a friend who received a detailed list (she had surgery a month prior to myself) of things she couldn't do following her surgery from different types of exercising to facials etc... I wasn't given this list despite telling them I work out (the list outlines you cannot lift weights for a month following). I asked for this at my 24 follow up, so was concerned about inconsistency of information provided. BUT aside from that, best thing I have done and would recommend to anyone looking to have the surgery.

I am very happy with my experience with Optical Express. I chose to have my surgery at the Nottingham Clinic. My surgeon, Mr Mughal, made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole process. I had my post op appointment at Leicester Optical Express the day after. Within 24 hours of my surgery, I already had driving standard vision. Really recommend Optical Express to anyone thinking about laser eye surgery. I went from -9 to better than 20/20 vision.
