This is a two year + post op review. Firstly I would highly recommend Prof Adrian Wilson for any knee problem. He ran through all my options very clearly and Osteotomy (opening wedge distal femoral) was the clear favourite for my condition and age. Adrian, Dr Ronald Van Heerwaarden and Mr Raghbiir Khakha carried out my Osteotomy. The results have been truly outstanding! I am now back in the gym, windsurfing and cycling. Pre-op I always felt it was a battle doing these activities and begrudgingly taking far to many anti-inflamatory painkillers. Now I have absolutely no need for any painkillers! Anyone having second thoughts about going for this procedure or one Adrian recommends, my advice would be dont, go for it. I'm now 6 months from having the plate removed. The best way to describe my leg and knee, is it now feels 'normal' !! Quite amazing that the knee is still in the same condition but gives absolutely no pain whilst pedalling my bike or afterwards as was the case previously before op. Osteotomy (DFO) was 100% the right advice for my condition!
