Me and my partner went to Riva Blu on our 5 year anniversary earlier this month on the 9th May and we were served by Nicole and a lady with short hair, (sorry I forgot her name!). The service was excellent and so was the food and our drinks The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely and it made our anniversary extra special All of the staff were lovely and super friendly Definitely would recommend for any meals out

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. We have recently been made aware that Gino D’Acampo had a restaurant in Birmingham, Riva Blu. As all our family is absolutely fascinated with him, we didn’t think twice, and decided to go celebrate my 30 years anniversary there. As we entered, a gentleman was painting some shelves in the middle of the restaurant, which was not exactly how you would expect to be welcomed, as this generates toxic vapours, harmful for the health, especially in a closed environment. After ordering drinks, food, coffees, my husband asked if they had alternative milk, as he is lactose intolerant, and fancied a coffee too. The same gentleman that was painting the shelves when we entered, which I can only guess was the manager, as he referred to the servers as ‘his staff’, came to our table, and without even introducing himself, told my sister in law, which is wheelchair bound, that we were extremely rude to his staff, for asking for the alternative milk, he was making accusations, patronising and bullying her. He didn’t even give anyone the chance to reply, and he asked us to leave. She felt very vulnerable and harassed, and she started shaking. She left, so sad. Needless to say that this ruined our anniversary and we paid a bill of £250 to have it ruined as well. This gentleman was bullying the disabled customer and anybody else that dares to enter the restaurant and bother him, made the experience horrible, and invalidated the efforts all other staff involved. I don’t recommend the place, unless you wish to be treated like the lowest level person that ever existed, just because you walked in. Unacceptable. Absolutely shameful. Never expected this to be such a disastrous experience. He managed to destroy the name, which is already a brand, Gino D’Acampo. Give people a chance to explain and stop assuming things, also, quit your job mister manager and stop ruining people’s celebrations. A restaurant manager needs to be a people person, you are extremely uneducated and frustrated with your life and your job, it was clear when you shouted at her in front of all the guests. Keep your personal issues at home, please.
