I wanted advice from them about a vet i didn't trust, the vet was giving me cat medication for my dog and i wanted to know is it safe for him to do that as i didn't trust the vet i was looking for independent advice, i was put through to someone who had zero veterinarian knowledge all he told me to do was to "talk to my vet about it" not the best advice as i didn't trust the vet and couldn't tell me if it was safe to prescribe cat medication to dogs and he has never heard of the tablets i told him was given to my dog. Silly me expecting to talk to someone with veterinarian experience at a college for veterinarian surgeons. Never use them again.

This is not a bona fide professional regulator, to put it bluntly, it is a sick joke. We complained about vets who almost killed our cat, misdiagnosed her and charged our insurers for unnecessary procedures. Had we not changed vets, our cat would have died. This "regulator" took almost a year to reply and dismissed the case. I do not believe they even bothered to investigate it. If a doctor made so many mistakes and endangered a patient's life, the GMC would strike him/her off. I feel sorry for animals who have no protection from malpractice from this ridiculous set up.

We have submitted a claim against a Vets in recent months, these guys investigated (loosely used term) for them to find in favour of the vets, be it we have shown they used non trained staff to perform procedures by law they shouldn't, yet this governing body ignored, we then discovered they didn't even contact the vets or even visit to investigate, so to me this governing body is fraudulent and is not worth the paper its printed on, having investigated further we now discovered that 95%of complaints go no further than they review your own paper work as submitted and do no investigations what so ever, essentially protecting the culprits even though clear line of sight can be established as to the offence by the vets, these guys are paid a sum of money by all vets and nurses and therefore will not do anything to disturb that cash injection, criminal, we are now forging ahead with Parliament to get this accreditation removed from essentially a private company masquerading as a governing body, all they are interested in is money, waste of time and space

What a wonderful place to work this must be. On their own little island oblivious to the real world but more than happy to dish out totally irrelevant rules and regs. Why don't you lot get out and see what its like in the real world instead of continually spewing out hypocrisy. Oh silly me you might lose money doing that.

Not like other colleges in the world, the RCVS doesn't include any benefit. The RCVS doesn't include your litigations insurance (like Spain does), it doesn't invite you to free CPDs (which only needs to be organize with some top surgeons/professors and pharmaceutical companies). It doesn't help when you have an issue or a question (they say it is not their competence or that they are only looking for the animals and clients, but wait a second, animals or clients don't pay the RCVS, we do). The RCVS is literally there just for the surgeons and other veterinary staff to register their name on a list and of course, to pay, to pay for everything, nothing else. I am sad this is the institution in the UK, but in order to practice, we must go through them.
