Church architecture ranked amongst the best is just off the A64! St Andrew's, East Heslerton was by architect GE Street in 1877. His original drawings for the church are held in archives at the Royal Institute of British Architects, such is the high standing of his work. It is grade I listed, recognising its national importance. It is redundant as a parish church so stands empty, but intact and is well looked after by The Churches Conservation Trust & is mightily impressive. Open daily during daylight hours. Parking is at the lychgate.

Got to love this church, sat just off a main road but without even pathed access an interesting and unusual church. One of the Sykes churches well worth a visit. Loved the swallow nesting in the neoclassical portch.

This is a church under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust and is situated just off the A64 in East Heslerton. The church inside is in good repair and the building has an interesting chancel which differs from the design for the nave. The graveyard outside does have more recent stones in it so it is still in some form of occasional use (as are all CCT churches, they are still consecrated sites). The leaflet details all the interesting features in the church with the exception of the bust that is inside the nave just at the start of the roof. That is still a mystery to me!
