Totally agree with most of the other reviewers the toilets are absolutely disgusting. Everything is dirty, stained & broken & I do mean everything, the floor the walls, the toilets, the toilet roll holders, the sanitary bins & the sinks/hand wash system. There is wee & worse all over the floor & the smell is enough to make your eyes water. For 40p per person they should be getting cleaned much more often. Although I have doubts that they are cleaned at all, as I used them today just after 8am (opening time) & they were horrid. So I'm assuming that all the filth & smell was left from the day(s) before. Also as York is such a big tourist attraction with international visitors these disgraceful toilets are probably giving a very bad impression of the UK & it's people.

Vile. Utterly, utterly vile. The stench is overwhelming, as though the very essence of urine has become one with time and space. In no uncertain terms: it is more pleasant, comfier, and cleaner to use an alley instead. This is not an exaggeration. (If you don't believe this review about how bad these toilets are, consider this question: who on earth would be so motivated to write a review of a public toilet?)

If I could give it 0 stars I would. Thank Any deity you choose to believe that I was only going in to evacuate my bladder…for if I had to sit down It would have been a more unpleasant experience since the men who came before me need to work on their aim…WOMEN be warned…and if you need too Sanitise your fair arses. The floors beautifully reminiscent of a cross of old cinema floors and festival toilets. Enter at your own risk…heroes beware! probably more hygienic to wet yourself if I’m honest.
