Beautifully refurbished 1,000 year old Norman Church (originally built n paid for by William the conqueror's niece Judith de Haldane) which was midway between Waltham Abbey and Stratford along a pilgrim way. It's a light, airy, peaceful, space ideal for prayer or meditation with a newly built community space in the heart of Old Walthamstow Village. ❤

A big, high, space recently very sympathetically renewed and slightly extended. The pews replaced by sets of chairs; toilets and kitchen much improved. With the size audibility is challenging: two big speakers can deliver a powerful sound, but words are difficult to make out. (The pipe organ needs no help.) For speech multiple smaller speakers placed near seating could work better.

An enjoyable afternoon with the St Mary's Trails team, learning about all the quirky facts of the church. A really sensitive and well executed resoration that I'm sure will bring much good to our community. There are a few more dates available for the trails this year - check them out!

I attended the Tenebrae Service at this Church from 7.30pm - 8.45pm this evening. I found the Service interesting but by the tine it ended I was frozen! None of the radiators were on!
