    Statue of Kitchener tucked away to the far right hand side of Horse Guards Parade. What I find most odd about the placement of this statue, is it is placed on the wall that backs onto the garden of 10 Downing Street.

    The statue stands in tribute to Herbert Kitchener, 1st Earl Kitchener, the British Army officer and colonial administrator. He on notoriety for his imperial campaigns, especially his scorched earth policy against the Boers and his use of camps to "house" the Boer civilians and soldiers the Second Boer War. But his greatest legacy was probably his role as Secretary of State for War during the First World War and his becoming the face of the recruitment campaign to fight the Central Powers. The statue is located on the south side of Horse Guards Parade in London. The bronze statue depicts Earl Kitchener in uniform, standing on a plinth made of Portland Stone. Nothing amazing to see but worth a look if you're interested in history and in the area.
