Love this place but only 4 Stars cos the chap who runs/owns this place does not want to continue serving light lunches just self service tea and cakes. Not many there today but he says it is a plant nursery not a cafe and plants is where he earns an income. We do both and think he needs to draw people in to buy his plants. Hope he is right and this little gem does not lose clientele.

Only popped in briefly to check whether it would be alright for a friend, was really surprised just how vibrant and colourful it was with the flowers. Half of the area is pond plants, half absolutely gorgeous flowers, you get a bit of both worlds here. What is also good is that the majority of it is flattish bar an optional embankment trail, those not so good on their legs will find here easier than some other places set on hills. Can't comment on the cafe as didn't sample on this occasion

We had a lovely visit today. Our first visit but decided to buy a season pass as the gardens are close to home and dog friendly. Brought our cameras and spent a couple of hours enjoying the peace and tranquility. Will be back soon. Just be careful when leaving as vision is poor at the end of the drive. Would benefit from a mirror opposite as we had a couple of vehicles come down the road quite fast as we were trying to exit onto the road.

We enjoyed the Easter egg coded hunt & the quirky gardens but missed an actual cafe just self help eats etc. Staff super friendly & aim to please. Plants looked good but we were there for hunt.

Visited the garden today. Although too early to see it in full bloom, we were disappointed. The ponds and water features were stagnant. I realise it’s trying to be natural but to see so much debris and rotting woodland was not the best sight. We literally walked around in less than an hour. Lovely to see the nesting swans but otherwise it felt quite neglected. We were told on entry that it was informal but we thought we could have had more of a walk through extended woodland . Maybe later in the year the water features will be cleaned up and the plants will make it look prettier. Sorry to sound so negative. Probably just bad timing but didn’t feel it warranted £5 per person entry at this time of year.

Lovely place. The gardens are fantastic - you can spend an hour just walking around them. They have a nice tea shop and also have some live theatre in the summer. I would highly recommend a visit.

Interesting place, if a little low tech. The kids always love it and they do plenty of seasonal events which keep my kids wanting to go back. Nice restaurant at the end of the walk too.

The gardens were a bit of a disappointment but the cafe and plants are good.
