    We chose SHDR to work on our house (17th century listed and later) because of the very positive reviews and the fact that Aaron used to be with another restoration outfit we’d used on a previous project on another property. It turned out to be a wise decision. This is an excellent young team who are totally serious about their job ( in our case, roof refurbing, tile replacement, lime pointing, joinery etc). Max, Matilda, Seb and Rosie all deserve individual mention for careful and skilled work, even as they coped with pretty inclement weather. Importantly, all (including Aaron, of course) remained accessible and informative throughout the project, and used initiative- and that sort of customer focussed approach makes a real difference when dealing with the disruption of home maintenance projects. We would thoroughly recommend SHDR, and will certainly call on them in future.

Aaron took the time to explain (and show us) why we were getting the issue in very specific locations and suggested simple solutions for very little cost.     We recently purchased a house dating back to the 1600s with serious damp problems. We needed an expert to look at the property and advise us sympathetically how to resolve the problems during our restoration project. Thank God that we found Aaron and SHDR who understand how old houses were designed to work! Aaron, with his assistant Matilda, understood and enhanced our passion to treat the building and its heritage with respect. He opened our eyes to so many things that we were not aware of in the design and build of old houses. He provided us with an excellent and helpful report on how to ensure the building can be restored to how it should be, having had some very unhelpful treatments in the recent past. He has actually saved us a considerable amount of money in identifying unnecessary work that other surveyors had told us was required. As the project progresses we know that we have someone to consult with who truly understands this kind of building and who will help us ensure it will can stand a further 500 years!
