I (re)started Tai Chi with Steve in 2018 and can 100% recommend this school. The instruction is excellent and suitable for beginners and experienced students alike. The classes over a range of activities, introducing beginners to the tai chi short form and then opening out to more advanced meditation and martial classes. The atmosphere is always very friendly, the instructor, assistants and students are welcoming, and the classes are suitable for people with varying physical abilities. I can truly say that after five years, my tai chi practice has become more than a form of exercise and has fundamentally changed me for the better.

I started Tai Chi with Steve in January 2019. It has been a truly life changing experience. What started as a 75 minute practice once a week has become a lifestyle of daily practice and regular training. My physical and mental health has been transformed over the past three years, so much so that I can’t imagine what life was like before Tai Chi. The Mei Quan academy is an incredible community and Steve is one of their most senior instructors.

This class simply changed my life! I needed to do both exercise and mindfulness, which I have found fully in Qi Gong and Tai Chi. After 4 years of practise, both my mental and physical health are the best I've ever known :). Steve (our teacher) is an exceptional martial artist, who inspires me at every class. I truly recommend it!

Steve has dedicated his life to Tai Chi, and it’s apparent in every class he teaches. Over my years of being a student here I’ve benefited greatly, in ways I mostly didn’t anticipate. If you want inspiration and challenge in a relaxed and friendly environment I would highly recommend you give his classes a try.

I have been studying with Mei Quan Waterloo for a number of years, and have benefitted hugely in many areas of my life. Classes are friendly and relaxed, but focused, and cater very well for students of all levels. There are also online options for those who are unable to attend in person. Thoroughly recommended!

I have been going to these classes for 11 years now- there really is something for everyone whatever level of Tai Chi you are at from complete beginner to more experienced. There are classes that cover the basics through to the more advanced where you dig deep. Steve, the teacher, is hugely passionate about what he does and that just rubs off on you and the other students. He's also not afraid to mix things up a little to stop things getting stale. A friendly and welcoming environment where everyone is equal no matter your background. And gets you fit too - often without you realising it.

I came to my first Tai Chi session 5 years ago and haven’t looked back! Every class is fun and packed full of interesting material. I love that you can go at your own pace; either enjoying relaxing, slow movements or exploring more dynamic, martial practice! I can’t recommend it enough!

Having done some tai chi in other places, I joined this class a couple of years ago. One of my favourite things is that the class works for complete beginners as well as experienced students and the teacher will adapt the material and teaching to ensure that everyone gets the best experience. The students are really welcoming too and there is a fantastic supportive atmosphere which means that everyone feels at home right away. No matter how tired or stressed I feel when I arrive, I always leave energised and with my spirits lifted, I would encourage everyone to try it out.
