  Just got back from a Monday to Friday 4 nighter on New Dawn booked as a family holiday for eight of us. Firstly John is an amazing guy who is very knowledgeable on all things to do with boats from places to moor up, eat & enjoy a good beer! The boat was first class! Me personally slept in one of the bunk beds, this was super comfy. This holiday provided lots of gorgeous scenery & is a fun experience. Would definitely do this again & would highly recommend John & his team at the boat co north to anyone. Thanks again for a wonderful experience!

  An absolutely brilliant time last week hiring out Emily from The Boat Co North. John and the team were all lovely and a big thank you to Nathan in particular who was excellent in giving us our initial boat induction, answering any queries and calming any worries we had. The boat itself was excellent, perfectly sized and well equipped with all we needed for our trip up to Bingley 5 Rise locks. The trip itself was hard work with the sheer number of locks and swing bridges to overcome but with the help of CRT volunteers and other kind boaters we succeeded in our journey and managed to stop to explore places along the way. We would definitely hire from White Rose again and was very impressed with the service we received. Thank you so much to all of the team!

  I hired River Dancer for a week and had an amazing time. I have traveled a lot and had many very interesting adventures, but this had to be one of the best!! John and his team were wonderful and very helpful in getting me started on this adventure. They looked after me to ensure that I was having a great time and not having any issues. River Dancer performed flawlessly and was a very comfortable narrowboat to live on for a week. I have recommended The Boat Company North to several of my friends and will continue to do so. Thank you so much for making this a most memorable week on the canals of England.

  I’ve wanted to have a go on a canal boat for years and finally did last weekend after persuading family it was a good idea! I wasn’t disappointed, we had a wonderful break, it was so relaxing, I’ll be booking another trip next year. I was impressed from the start of my experience as I loved the website- logical and easy to navigate and book and John who works there called a couple of times before and answered any queries I had and was really friendly. We had Charlotte for the weekend and everything we needed was on board including table and chairs to sit out on the bank. We spent a while with john on arrival and although I felt all instructions went in one ear and out of the other, we managed just fine and soon got the hang of things. Loads of pub and bar stop offs along the way. The only regret is that we didn’t go for longer, we will do a week next time 😊. Thanks to all the staff we felt well looked after and even had one member of staff opening the locks for us on the morning returning the boat as he was on his way to work- lovely people, highly recommend.

  One of the best holidays myself and my partner have shared together. First time on a barge (being a Canadian it’s not too common back home) and we managed to get the hang of driving and operating the locks really quickly! Beautiful trip down towards Wakefield with some beautiful stops along the way. John was a great help giving us pointers and recommendations. Already looking into booking in again with The Boat Co North. Absolutely nothing negative to say and would recommend to anyone that wants a relaxing holiday paired with an adventure!

  Brilliant 4 day break on Emily. Suitable for 4 people but great for 2. Lovely trip to Castleford and back stopping off for many drinks and food. FRIENDLY FOLK. Good instructions and overall great time. Recommended to everyone.

  (Translated by Google) Four wonderful and experiential days with six good friends from Wakefield. Well-equipped boat and charming and pleasant owner/instructor who guided us through the first three locks. Two cabins are best for couples, as there are double duvets😪 One of these cabins is in the living room, - slightly impractical and narrow mattress. 4-man cabin is ok. Battery capacity is far too poor. The septic tank was probably not emptied in advance and the last two days the toilet overflowed, which meant that several people chose a hotel for the last night. (Original) Fire fantastiske og opplevelsrike dager med seks gode venner t/r Wakefield. Godt utstyrt båt og sjarmerende og hyggelig eier/instruktør som ledet oss gjennom de tre første slusene. To lugarer passer best for par, da det er dobbeldyner😪 En av disse lugarene er i stua, - litt upraktisk og smal madrass. 4-mannslugar er ok. Batterikapasitet er alt for dårlig. Septiktanken var nok ikke tømt på forhånd og de to siste dager fløt toalettet over, noe som gjorde at flere valgte hotell siste natt.

  Well! To say I was apprehensive about a boating holiday is an understatement but I knew how much my husband wanted to it so we had a good compromise. 3 days on the boat, 4 days in a lodge with a hot tub! But I needn't have worried. John and the team were so knowledgeable, advising us on the best route to suit our ability and making sure I was able to use my CPAP machine which put me at ease! I really enjoyed it, met some nice folk on the way and we'll certainly be back next year ready to take more locks on! Thanks for everything

  Had a fantastic time hiring ‘Emily’ for three nights. Wish it had been for longer, but when I booked I wasn’t sure the wife would take to it. Fortunately, she had a great time jumping in and out of the boat whilst opening and closing the locks. We will definitely book again (and for a bit longer) next year. Thanks for everything, John. We were grateful we could rely on you for help, if needed, or even just for pub recommendations.
