As soon as we walked in, could not not notice the dog smells! Dog friendly place is one thing, but was over bearing for a restaurant…. Placed looked a mess… waiting staff placing things on tables and bar staff casually talking to another customer…. The 1-2 mins standing waiting, not even greeted or acknowledged… Very disappointing… By the time someone decided to come over they chose to over look and help two people behind us…. Safe to say will never step foot in that place again… Shame considering we are local to the pub.

They just don't know how to serve food. We ordered food and was made to wait more than an hour even when it wasn't busy. Further, everyone's food arrived at different time leaving the idea of meeting friend over luch useless. Nice location and good food but service is 100 miles apart. Went here for lunch with my wife. The entrance was blocked by a large group of old men drinking and smoking. I was quite surprised about it as they should have been asked to move at least on one side of the entrance. They left a trail of cigarette's smoke which was quite unpleasant. The restaurant is actually nice, the food is prepared well and elegantly presented. We had a duck mousse to share which was nice and buttery. The other ingredients on the plate were also very well prepared and matched. The smoked duck slices were from the end of the breast and there was equal amount of fat and meat. For the price they charge for a starter I would have expected better slices. I had the pork as main and this was also very well prepared. Meat was cooked to perfection. The dish was rich, winey and sweet. Only critic I can make is that both dishes were probably slightly bland/flat taste, very buttery but not enough salt. The pickles and jams in the starer could have been a bit more vibrant and the pork dish needed a bit of salt both on the meat and mash. The desserts were very nice. Sticky toffee pudding had a lightness to it which was pleasant. Apple crumble was very fruity. All in all, a very good restaurant, unfortunately too expensive (London prices if not more). The area unfortunately does not offer many options when you are looking for good food so they have very little competition.
