I would not recommend using OLBC or their related companies (including Basement Works). We ended up using a solicitor to get out of the contract with them as they got so many major things wrong we lost confidence - these might have been due to their high staff turnover. For instance, the certificate they sent out to show that they had the required insurance in place had the wrong company name on it - they have a number of companies but the one we contracted with was not among the many ones named on the insurance certificate. While they did produce a new certificate, I did ask whether the insurance had been in place since the start of work for the correct company and how their Quality Control they boasted about had missed out on the wrong name of the company, but never got an answer to either question - read into this what you want. I don't know if this change of name would have been possible if there had been a claim and I had not noticed it. When I discovered this, I only slept 2 hours and felt physically sick with the thought that OLBC was trying to commence work potentially without the right level of PI etc insurance in place. I even went as far as setting up a company with the right name. It's not just us, but our two neighbours houses could have not been insured if something had happened. If you want to avoid this type of stress, use another firm. And at a minimum have a solicitor check the contract and that there is sufficient insurance in place. ps: I had posted this on google before. The company name on my review seems to have changed to: XYZ Widgets and be permanently closed. I am sure that Rosie and Marc, the couple that own the various companies, can explain what is going on.
