I had my first consultation with Mr Rittoo, a consultant vascular surgeon at The Private Clinic in September 2015. My sister had treatment at the clinic on a previous occasion and was very pleased with the results. I had a history of extensive bruising and spider veins on both legs for many years. This started shortly after childbirth when I developed a thrombosis in my left leg. After over six months on warfarin blood thinning medication, I started to notice a network of spider veins and bruises on both legs - they never went away and over time got even worse. In the past I have had various procedures - this included having a large vein sealed as an outpatient in hospital, and surgical removal of another vein followed by sclerotherapy at another clinic. Although these treatments helped they never were entirely successful and soon I had the same problems returning. I mention all the above to make it clear that I presented Mr Rittoo with quite a challenge - this was not going to be a walk in the park! First a was given a scan and then the entire procedure was explained in detail and later confirmed in writing. Mr Rittoo explained that the treatments had to be carried out in stages over an extended period of time. Most of the 'groundwork ' was done on my first appointment - EVLA laser to veins in both legs, followed by multiple phlebectomies to treat branch veins. I was astounded that I was able to walk out of the clinic without any discomfort at all. After a few weeks I returned to the clinic to check on the healing process, and arrange a course of sclerotherapy at approximately 6 week intervals. It was agreed that further courses could be added if required. I have to say that the results have surpassed all my expectations - I have been able to wear summer dresses and skirts without worrying about covering up, and even swimwear without embarrassment, something I never thought was possible, and I can't thank Mr Rittoo enough - as a person who is more that s bit nervous about all injections I can testify that Mr Rittoo is a sclerotherapy wizard - no discomfort at all - unbelievable! Also his kind and reassuring manner always made me feel the greatest confidence I was in safe hands. The staff at the Private Clinic are all very helpful, efficient and professional, making the entire experience comfortable and pleasant. I have no hesitation in recommending The Private Clinic, and in particular Mr Rittoo, in my opinion a vascular surgeon of the highest excellence - thank you Mr Rittoo!
