Lovely place and staff. However the cream teas are pricey and for that I would expect high quality food. Things like the brownies and cheesecake could have come from a cheap supermarket packet. I (only an adequate baker) could make tastier versions myself, so a chef certainly could.

We had a lovely break at the Swan at Lavenham. The room was comfortable and pleasantly decorated, with a decent bed and a gorgeous, generously sized bathroom. The only downside of the room was that it was quite hot at night, even with the windows fully open. You get standard tea and coffee making facilities and our package meant there was a lovely cold bottle of Champagne in the room when we arrived, which definitely helped us to settle in. The spa was a great experience - we spent most of our time in the jacuzzi pool, enjoying the sunshine and the peace and quiet. Unfortunately, dinner at The Gallery restaurant was disappointing - the quality of the food doesn't match the prices - but we had a nice evening nonetheless. The staff were great and the location is ideal for exploring Lavenham. We'd definitely visit again but would go elsewhere for our evening meal.
