  I have been going to Anne Gill for years, all of my family have used Anne and we absolutely loved everything about it. Anne was so knowledgeable, personable and always the most helpful with anything we have needed. Everyone there were so friendly and it was always a pleasant experience and we recommended her to everyone. I went in recently and it wasn’t the same atmosphere. I think it must have been sold on as Anne and all of her team aren’t there anymore and it’s under a new name. It’s not the same anymore and I am so upset about it. I went in to have a normal eye test and to get some glasses. Firstly - the eye test was significantly shorter then it usually is and they had missed out a lot of the testing i used to have done with Anne (the ipad tests and colour tests). The lady doing my eye test was lovely and the lady on the reception, but the man sat at the seat Anne used to sit in to sort the glasses was less so. He wasn’t very friendly from the outset and was showing me glasses i couldn’t afford after i had said i couldn’t afford them. This was the first time i had got my eyes tested without my mum with me so i was a little bit clueless to the pricings etc. the frames i picked were £59 but when it went through to pay it somehow had got up to £154, £194 including the eye test which is so much more then i have ever spent on my glasses when i was with Anne. I usually paid £80 for one pair of glasses as I stick to the cheap frames. I paid it as I wasn’t sure if that was normal but wasn’t given a receipt to explain what i was paying for anything. He hadn’t asked me if i wanted any ad on’s or anti glare etc in my lenses - I am just assuming he went ahead and added that without asking. As soon as I left, I called my mum and burst into tears because of the entire experience just feeling uncomfortable and not what i was expecting. I also am only 22 so don’t have tons of money to spend on glasses, so spending £194 was well out of my budget and i felt a bit helpless. My mum said it was never normally that much money and went back in with my to get my money back and cancel the glasses. When we went back in, the man was even ruder than before, getting very defensive about me ‘accusing him’ when all i went in for was a refund. He kept saying he ‘hadn’t done anything wrong’ and ‘he did tell me it would be that much’ but still wasn’t providing me with a breakdown of the costs like I was asking for. He just kept muttering under his breathe and just had awful attitude. They gave me a refund and I left and got my glasses elsewhere. I truly felt like all the were trying to do is get as much money out of me as possible rather than actually caring about me, my budget or my eyesight. They have lost 3 customers there with my family and I will never go back. Disappointing as we used to love Anne Gill.

  Had a lovely experience at Anne Gill Eyecare. Very professional and customer oriented, the examination made me feel relaxed, being very detailed. The optician answered all my questions and advised me In The best way possible . So glad I found my optician!

  I booked an appointment with Anne Gill eyecare for my 5 year old after having some concerns with him seeing some balls of light at night. They were more than accommodating and booked me in for the following week. Richard was very patient and came down to my sons level to give him more than adequate care!! My son lived his experience so much he was disappointed his results were clear and so didn't need any glasses. Thank you to all the team for your time, care and expertise!! I would highly recommend!

  Absolutely exceptional experience here at Anne Gill. Would highly recommend. Abi was lovely, taking the time to explain my results and I felt reassured that she totally knew what she was doing. I then saw Anne who sorted my prescription and she is just fab as well. Knows her stuff about what looks good. A thoroughly brilliant appointment. It was covid safe. I had no concerns going in. Give them a whirl, you won't go anywhere else once you do!

  The service and customer care I received on both occasions to Anne Gill Eyecare was excellent. I loved the friendliness and openness of the team, and with Anne and Richard explaining every processes of my appointments in full, their knowledge and experience answered the bombardment of questions I had, and provided a professional, calming atmosphere. Having the OCT scan has given me extra reassurance and the process of choosing the right lens specific to my requirements was painless, and also very interesting! Overall, and unhurried and pleasant experience throughout. Thank you.   After having a lot of trouble with glasses and visiting my normal options I thought I would try Anne Gill and so glad I did they have found the trouble that was affecting my eyes and have just picked up my new glasses such a relief still getting used to them because of the new prescription but that takes time ,on the plus side they are made from recycled materials and I have just had a tree planted because they are eco brilliant.
