My daughter has been a cadet for over 5 years after being invited to have a look at the unit by a friend. How thankful we are as a family that she had the opportunity to join the unit on that first visit and has been committed ever since. Over the years, I have watched my daughter grow in confidence and become a young woman that we are very proud off, especially when we get to see her in uniform. She has also be able to gain many new skills all as a result of the hard work, patience and time that the volunteer staff have put in over the years.

My son Archie, who is 13 and has been with Wandsworth Sea Cadets for the past two years said the following: "I think sea cadets is a great place to learn new skills, for example windsurfing, motor-boating, sailing, canoeing and I have recently completed a First Aid course. I feel that Sea Cadets is a brilliant place to learn new things and would strongly recommend it to others.

I have been a Sea Cadet for 5 years and have enjoyed every minute of attending regularly on a Friday evening and all day Sunday. I have learnt amazing new skills from team work to powerboats and I have been able to gain more qualifications through The Sea Cadets then I have been able to achieve at school. My time at cadets has help me to realise my potential as a young woman.

5 years as a cadet here, and just loved it. Run by an incredibly dedicated and expert group of staff, there is a great atmosphere and something for everyone to get involved in, whether it's sports, boat handling, mechanical engineering, sailing, shooting to name a few. Made friends for life and came away with high quality training and skills I wouldn't have picked up anywhere else.

From the first day I arrived at cadets, I absolutely loved it. The part I love most is events for example the cross country, athletics and rowing competition. There’s always something to do in the unit. We are constantly learning new things about the sea cadets, ships, etc...

My son has been with this Sea Cadets unit for over a year now and his experience can only be described as AMAZING! The opportunities are very varied, from seamanship, first aid, archery to making real friends and learning responsibly, real principles of team work and core values of comradeship. As a parent I am extremely thankful to all the members of staff (who are all volunteers) as they do a sterling job! Don’t hesitate and visit the unit on a parade day to meet everyone and maybe join the exiting team!

My son joined this unit 3.5 years ago when he turned ten. He thoroughly enjoys the camaraderie with fellow cadets and the opportunity to learn new skills. The unit is professionally run by a lively and caring team. Most Sundays the cadets are out on the boats on the Thames. Sea Cadets offer many boating and skills-based courses over the holidays. It is a great way to keep active and engaged!
