Wow.. totally blown away. We visited this evening as a ‘last minute after work, let’s pop for dinner’! The waiters are absolutely lovely, so hospitable, chatty and welcoming - nothing was too much. The food was impeccable, and as I said to the waiters tonight, the best Indian I have ever tasted (and we’ve eaten our fair few!) Everything was fresh and piping hot, and it’s true what other reviews say, the onion bhajis are the best I’ve ever tried. Having only lived in the area a short while we hadn’t been here before but had tried others locally but this beats anything else we have tried, here and everywhere else! Definitely worth a visit, if we could give more than 5 stars we would! Thank you for a lovely evening, you truly do have a little gem there! Will be back soon!!

Avoid if you have allergies or dietry requirements!! Ordered takeaway this evening and made it explicitly clear that I was ordering all vegan, they have a great vegan menu this should be easy. However, they gave me meat samosas. I have called and informed them and just got told that it was a mistake, that they would talk to the staff and when I order next time I can ask for the manager and he'll do the order to make sure. No apology and no attempt to correct the error. I won't be ordering from them again. Very disappointed as there seem to be so few vegan takeaways in this area. Especially ones like Zaras that have a clearly marked vegan menu, its even more disappointing.

Have been using Zara for over 8 years now. Used a few other Indian restaurants in that time, some that were cheaper, but nothing compares to the quality of food that Zara serves. Little things make a big difference that no one else can seem to get right - poppadoms perfect every time, bhajis cooked to perfection. Definitely the Indian of choice in the whole Chelmsford/Maldon area.
